Dawn Russo

My name is Dawn Russo, and I am a Certified Instructor with Infant Swimming Resource. I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, and am now located in Kendall County. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters, one of which is 3 years old and fully skilled with the ISR swim-float-swim method. Our baby is 6 months old and will begin her ISR training within the next few weeks, starting with the rollback-to-float method.

I found out about ISR when a friend of mine sent me an email with the Miles video that has been sent around for the past few years. I was totally amazed at what thei baby in this video could do. I went to the website to find an instructor in my area and couldn't find anyone with 250 miles of my home. Every so often I would go back to the website and search for an instructor to see if one was available in my area. Finally, one day I went onto www.infantswim.com and there was an instructor that was going to be teaching lessons just 10 minutes from my house; I was so excited!

I immediately registered my daughter, who was only 1 year old at the time. She was taught the rollback-to-float method. Andie Groff was the instructor in training, and this is how we met. Our daughters were swimming in the program one after the other. I was totally amazed at what she could do, and after talking with Andie, decided to become an instructor after being a stay-at-home mom.

Today, I am proud to work for an organization that believes in saving lives and has a proven method. I look forward to going to work each day and teaching kids how to have fun, but also how to respect the water and rescue themselves in the event of a potentially traumatic situation.
